The Higher Education Center is pleased to make the following
announcements:
1) National Conference on Sexual Assault in Our Schools
The Safe Society Zone will host the National Conference on Sexual
Assault in Our Schools at the Buena Vista Palace Hotel & Spa in the
Walter Disney World Resort, Lake Buena Vista, Florida, November 13-15,
2009.
The early registration fee is $330 until July 31, 2009, regular
registration is $380 August 1 - October 31, 2009, and late registration
is $430 after October 31, 2009. The early student registration fee is
$180 until July 31, 2009, regular student registration is $220 August 1
- October 31, 2009, and late student registration is $260 after October
31, 2009.
The conference sessions will address sexual assault and harassment on
campus, acquaintance and date rape, sexual violence in the armed forces
academies, alcohol and date rape drugs, sexual assault and rape
prevention programs, security and safety issues, sexual assault
awareness programs, peer groups and peer education, advocacy and
survivor services, men's programs, stalking, dealing with the media,
college students dealing with sexual violence, and many other issues
dealing with sexual assault and violence in schools.

2) International Health, Safety & Security Seminar for U.S. Colleges and
Universities
The University of Washington, in collaboration with the U.S. Department
of State's Overseas Security Advisory Council, is hosting the
International Health, Safety & Security Seminar for U.S. Colleges and
Universities March 6, 2009, 8:15-5:00 at the University of Washington,
in Seattle, Washington. There is no registration fee required, and lunch
will be provided.
The seminar objectives are to provide information and resources on the
following topics for study abroad and international sponsored research
programs:
-Alcohol and drug use and abuse
-Health and safety
-Maintaining safety & security of university operations at international
sites
-Student mental health issues
-Training for program leaders
-U.S. Department of State resources and services for health and safety
