- National Meeting 2008 Call for Proposals Deadline Extended -

Presentation Proposal Submissions are now due no later than June 9,
2008!

The deadline to submit presentation proposals for the U.S. Department of
Education's 22d Annual National Meeting on Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse
and Violence Prevention in Higher Education has been extended to Monday,
June 9, 2008. Submissions can be made online via the Call for Proposals
section of the NM08 Web site:
http://www.higheredcenter.org/natl/2008/abstracts/. This year's meeting
takes place November 16-19, 2008, in St. Paul, Minnesota, at the Crowne
Plaza Hotel St. Paul-Riverfront.

The 2008 National Meeting theme, "Ensuring the Safety and Well-Being of
Our Students: Widening the Lens of Prevention," provides an opportunity
for participants to consider the wide array of issues that face college
campuses in prevention today, including alcohol and other drug abuse,
violence, mental health, and emergency preparedness and management. The
Planning Committee is considering proposals primarily for workshops and
poster sessions and will consider all proposals that address the
following review criteria: consistency with conference theme,
theoretical basis or context, replicability and adaptability across
settings, and evidence of lessons learned.

If you plan to submit a proposal, please keep the following in mind:

The Planning Committee will review no more than two proposals per lead
presenter and will not consider proposals where it appears that the
focus of the session is primarily on promoting a specific commercial
product.
