The Higher Education Center is pleased to make the following
announcements:

1) 2007 NATIONAL VICTIM ASSISTANCE ACADEMY

The Office for Victims of Crime in the U.S. Department of Justice is
sponsoring the National Victim Assistance Academy (NVAA) during the week
of December 9-14, 2007, at the Conference Center at the Maritime
Institute, Linthicum Heights, MD. The NVAA is comprised of education and
skill-based classroom trainings for those who assist victims and
survivors of crime.

The NVAA includes three distinct tracks tailored to the needs of each
participant. All three tracks will be offered during the week-long
Academy and range in price from $100-$500.

2) AUDIOCONFERENCE - SMART CHOICES AND HARD QUESTIONS ON CAMPUS CRIME

Inside Higher Ed will present an audioconference, "Smart Choices and
Hard Questions on Campus Crime," Thursday, November 15, 2007, 3:00-4:00
p.m. Eastern. Ann Franke will discuss what colleges are doing and the
questions they should be asking about their crime prevention strategies.
This audioconference is designed for colleges that have made changes and
are trying to take stock, and for those still contemplating whether they
need to make changes. The registration fee is $175 per phone line.
