In order to streamline our process and minimize the number of
<br />
duplicative stories we post, the Higher Education Center compiles news
<br />
reports concerning college student alcohol, other drug, and
<br />
violence-related incidents. The following contains a summary of an
<br />
incident and offers a Web site URL where more detailed accounts of what
<br />
occurred can be found.

"[A University of Pennsylvania] junior...has sued the Alpha Phi Alpha
<br />
fraternity and two of its members because, he says, they beat and
<br />
branded him in a hazing incident six months ago, according to a report
<br />
released today by the Associated Press..."
<br />

"At least five College Misericordia athletes will be suspended for a
<br />
minimum of one game after they were arrested at an underage drinking
<br />
party late Saturday evening..."
<br />

"Women in Cambridge are on high alert after a man sexually assaulted a
<br />
student in a lounge at Lesley College..."
<br />

"An effort by the Wheeling Police Department to curb underage drinking
<br />
on Saturday resulted in citations for 23 Wheeling Jesuit University
<br />
students, and a city bar may face charges. Now, police are working to
<br />
determine whether an ambitious party organizer at the school will be
<br />
charged in the incident..."

"A North Liberty man who pleaded guilty of beating a man in 2004 with a
<br />
brick has been charged with the stabbing and bludgeoning deaths of two
<br />
18-year-old women..."
<br />

"A Georgetown lacrosse player charged with simple assault in November
<br />
with two students from other universities - including a Duke lacrosse
<br />
player recently indicted on rape charges - will have charges dropped
<br />
pending fulfillment of an agreement he entered last month..."
<br />

"Police confirmed Monday that the 21-year-old [Northwest Arkansas
<br />
Community College] woman found dead in her apartment Saturday was the
<br />
victim of a homicide..."
<br />

"One of Princeton University's fraternity-like eating clubs is
<br />
instituting stricter rules amid reports of problems including a possible
<br />
sex-related crime..."
<br />

"The man who broke the jaw of a black college student, provoking a
<br />
metro-wide discussion on race relations and hate crimes received a
<br />
10-year prison sentence Friday..."
<br />

"A vice president of the University of Connecticut's Pi Kappa Alpha
<br />
fraternity chapter was charged Thursday with selling drugs and phony
<br />
driver's licenses, police say..."
<br />
