PEER REVIEWERS NEEDED
The U.S. Department of Education's Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools (OSDFS) is currently seeking qualified peer reviewers to read and evaluate grant applications that will be submitted under the Grant Competition to Prevent High-Risk Drinking or Violent Behavior Among College Students. In anticipation of this review, the Department is requesting prospective reviewers to register on the OSDFS peer review Web site at www.osdfspeerreview.org. Qualified reviewers for this grant competition should have experience and expertise in alcohol abuse prevention, violence prevention, and/or research and evaluation, especially as it relates to college students.
Reviewers selected by the Department will read and evaluate up to 12 grant applications, post scores and comments online over an 8- to 10-day period, and participate in three mandatory conference calls. This review is scheduled to occur from April 5 through April 21, 2006. Additional information will be posted on the peer review Web site as the review dates are confirmed.
If you are interested in being considered as a peer reviewer for this grant competition, please register as a new reviewer or, if you are a returning reviewer, update your information by clicking on the appropriate Registration link on the right-hand side of the Home Page. The reviewer registration section of this site asks you to provide information about your qualifications and to upload a current résumé. You must have a 2006 résumé uploaded in order to be considered as a potential reviewer.
To indicate your interest in being considered as a reviewer specifically for this grant competition, please make sure you check the appropriate box on question 48 to designate the Grant Competition to Prevent High-Risk Drinking or Violent Behavior Among College Students (184H). The U.S. Department of Education will select the pool of reviewers from among those registered on the OSDFS peer review Web site. Completing the registration process does not guarantee that a prospective reviewer will be selected for this review. The actual number of necessary reviewers will be determined just prior to the review period.
If contacted about availability, prospective reviewers must successfully complete an online training in order to be considered for the review. The training will be offered in the weeks prior to the review. Confirmation of reviewers is based on the number of applications received, appropriate mix of reviewer qualifications, availability, and other factors.
If you have any questions or need additional information about this peer reviewer opportunity, please send an e-mail message to osdfspeerreview_at_esi-dc.com, referencing 84.184H in the subject line.
