National Meeting on Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse
and Violence Prevention in Higher Education

Driving What Works: Evidence-Based Strategies in Prevention
October 2-5, 2005: Westin Indianapolis, Indiana

CALL FOR PROPOSALS DEADLINE EXTENDED
Presentation Proposal Submissions are now due by May 23rd!
The deadline to submit presentation proposals for the U.S. Department of
Education's 19th Annual National Meeting on Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse
and Violence Prevention in Higher Education has been extended to MONDAY, MAY 23, 2005. Submission forms and instructions can be found at
www.higheredcenter.org/natl/2005. This year's meeting takes place in
Indianapolis, Indiana, on October 2-5, 2005.

The Department of Education invites presentation proposals with specific
emphasis on comprehensive programming, evidence-based strategies, and
effectiveness for the 19th Annual National Meeting. The theme is Driving What Works: Evidence-Based Strategies in Prevention. Through this Call, the Committee is considering proposals primarily for
workshops and poster sessions.

Sessions proposed for presentations should be aligned with one of the
NIAAA strategies pertaining to alcohol and other drug topics or best
practices if pertaining to violence. While quantitative evidence of
effectiveness is not mandatory, we encourage discussion of data-gathering
and evaluation consistent with the NIAAA framework
(www.edc.org/hec/niaaa/report.html).

If you plan to submit a proposal, please keep in mind...
We will review no more than two proposals per lead presenter and will not
consider proposals where it appears that the focus of the session is
primarily on promoting a specific commercial product.

More information about this year's National Meeting can be found at www.higheredcenter.org/natl/2005.
