The U.S. Department of Education's Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools
(OSDFS) is recruiting reviewers to evaluate grants for the Grant
Competition to Prevent High-Risk Drinking or Violent Behavior Among
College Students.
This review process utilizes the Internet for a Web-based review, thereby
reducing the amount of time that reviewers have to be away from home, and
the cost to the government for the review process.
Reviewers will read up to 10 applications at home, post scores and
comments to the Web site between April 7 and April 22, 2005, and
participate in three mandatory conference calls scheduled as follows:
- April 12, 2005, between 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. (ET). This call will be
approximately 60 minutes in length and will be scheduled within the time
frame listed above.
- April 15, 2005, between 1:00 - 4:30 p.m. (ET). This call will be
approximately 90 minutes in length and will be scheduled within the time
frame listed above.
- April 20, 2005, between 1:00 - 4:30 p.m. (EST). This call will be
approximately 90 minutes in length and will be scheduled within the time
frame listed above.
Reviewers are expected to devote significant time (approximately three
hours per application) during this period to the review and submit their
completed Technical Review Forms via the peer review Web site. Also,
reviewers are expected to participate in a Web-based training
(approximately 25-30 minutes) before being considered. Please be aware
that a conflict of interest exists if you have a financial interest in a
proposal being submitted under this competition, or if you assisted in
writing a proposal for this grant competition.
Please make sure you can adhere to the schedule including the mandatory
conference calls before indicating your availability. The honorarium fee
for reviewing up to 10 applications is $800. Again, this is just an
availability inquiry. ***Please reply no later than noon on Friday, April
1, 2005.***
If you are interested and available, please reply directly to Rich Lucey
in OSDFS via e-mail (richard.lucey_at_ed.gov) and register on the OSDFS peer
reviewer Web site at www.osdfspeerreview.org. Thank you.
