Please excuse the cross-postings...
Hello everyone -
I am pleased to announce that we have begun the planning of our FREE Facts on Tap trainings (a description follows at the end of the email) for later this spring. These trainings are open to all schools that have ever purchased the program. This year we will be conducting four trainings. The areas we will be visiting, based on our responses to our first emails, are:
* Upstate New York (Syracuse area)
* New York City
* Southern California (Los Angeles area)
Our fourth training this year will be a unique opportunity. Due to budgetary constraints, we are often unable to reach many of our Facts on Tap schools that are in areas with smaller concentrations of colleges. To address this issue, we will be hosting a training on October 15, 2003, the day before the National Meeting on Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse and Violence Prevention in Higher Education begins in Austin. PLEASE NOTE - this workshop is not a part of the National Meeting - it is simply scheduled to coincide with it to allow new schools from all parts of the country (and Canada) an opportunity to attend the training. More details on this particular training will be announced soon.
If you are located in or near (or are interested in traveling to) any of the first three locations, please email me with your FULL contact information so that we may involve you in these trainings. Please make sure to let us know of any coalitions that are in place in your area, so that we can work to involve them as well. Also, we are still looking for host schools for each location. All we generally ask of our hosts is to put us in contact with the appropriate contacts on campus for room and food arrangements.
Training Description:
The Facts on Tap training is an interactive workshop that focuses on how to best implement the program into your campus' prevention programming. The training will include all components of Facts on Tap, with a special and intensified focus on the Options materials and the issues surrounding students who are children of alcoholic and substance-abusing parents.
The Facts on Tap training is appropriate for staff members from prevention services, health services, residential life, fraternities/sororities, athletics, student affairs, and student activities. Student leaders and peer educators are also welcome. The training emphasizes the importance of ALL staff in fostering a healthy social climate at their college or university. Participants will have a chance to meet and network with representatives from other campuses who have also purchased Facts on Tap.
