Phoenix House, a non-profit organization, is the nation's foremost provider
of comprehensive, alcohol and substance abuse treatment for adults and
adolescents. Since 1975, more than 75,000 drug-troubled individuals have
received treatment at our adult residential centers, our adolescent Phoenix
Academies, outpatient and day programs, and programs in prisons, drug
courts, and homeless shelters
Phoenix House is looking to fill the position of Coordinator, Program
Planning. This individual will be responsible for:
* Coordination of the planning, drafting and submission of winning public
funding proposals for Phoenix House Foundation and its five regional offices
covering eight states nationwide
* Development of Intranet-based strategies and resources to support regional
program planning staff
* Monitoring, screening, and evaluation of federal and major state funding
opportunities as appropriate to National and Regional Programs through
online research
* Assistance and direct writing/editing/review of proposals, as required
* Identifying unfunded service needs of existing programs, including funding
gaps, additions to services, and addition of ancillary services
* Location of proposal resources, assistance with preparation and writing
key proposal bids, coaching on procedures for planning, drafting and
submitting a winning proposal.
Candidates should possess the following work experience(s) and education:
Minimum of three years of experience in a human services non-profit or
government agency environment, assisting with grant and contract proposal
development. Accomplished computer skills and a Bachelor's degree required,
preferably in social or behavioral sciences. Knowledge of substance abuse
treatment, criminal justice, AIDS services, mental health issues is a plus.
This position reports directly to Director of Program Planning and operates
out of our headquarters offices at 164 W. 74th Street, New York City.
Evening and weekend work will be required from time to time to meet proposal
deadlines.
