Aside from "book larnin'' ", we all know SSRI users who don't get euphoric
effects. However, some users complain of stimulant-like effects. To "garbage
heads" this might be just dandy. I worked in college in a disco where kids
popped pills they found on the floor. Any alteration in consciousness was
cool. I bet they snagged everything from diabetes thru birth control pills. I
also worked in the South Bronx with glue and other inhalant sniffing kids.
(don't ask when). In cleaning the xerox machine drum with volatile
liquid, etc., or using glues, I felt dizzy , disoriented and sick. Its just
that people have different cultural constructions of this reality. To some
its an unwanted side effect, to others, a "high" or an alternative to
misery. Poor kids in many third world nations use glue for example to deaden
hunger.
