Corey - I suggest that you either use the CORE after your social norms
campaign or other intervention methods or you use the "new survey" to
conduct another pre-test otherwise it will be difficult to differentiate
what change is due to your program and what is due to the programming.
As for how do you make a silk purse out of the sow's ear of CORE "binge
drinking" data, I suggest that you look at those CORE data very closely. I
feel rather certain that you will find quite a number of positive messages
you can create regarding the misperceptions that exist. For example if 67%
of your students are binge drinking according to the CORE, order the disc
with the raw data and then work with your institution research guru to
identify where the positive information is - 67% of all students may be
high-risk drinkers, but perhaps only 49% or women or 29% of students who
volunteer 5+ hours a week or 31% of individuals from a particular residence
hall, etc. I am not suggesting that you "make-up" information, but
sometimes we just need to "bloom where we are planted."
