I have found an article about sensation seeking as
related to drug use.
Donohew, R.L., Hoyle, R.H., Clayton, R.R., Skinner,
W.F., Colon, S.E., & Rice, R.E. (Sept.1999).
Sensation seeking and drug use by adolescents and
their friends: Models for marijuana and alcohol.
Journal of Studies on Alcohol, 60, p. 622.
Journal of Studies on Alcohol, Sept. 1999 v60 i5 p622
What caught my interest was that 80% of adolescent
users of specific drugs (alcohol and marijuana, I
believe) were rated as high sensation seekers.
I used some of this information as part of a
presentation on a literature review at the Great
Plains 20th Annual Students' Psychology Convention at
Missouri Western State College, just this past week.
I placed second place in my category. It was my first
time participating in such a competition.
Titled:Personality Characteristics of COAs: Three
Models.
Thought I'd share the good news!
Thanks,
Robbie
